Host Town: Arnprior!

When Orienteering Ottawa approached Arnprior about hosting the 2014 North American Orienteering Championships in the fall of 2012, they quickly got very excited about bringing a new event and sport to their community.  The partnership between Arnprior and Orienteering Ottawa has grown since then it will be NAOC2014 and the orienteers there who will be the benefactors.

What's in Arnprior during NAOC2014?

  • The NAOC2014 Event Centre at the Nick Smith Centre
  • The Sprint, National Team Relay and People's Cup Finale events
  • Camping and Hard Floor Accommodation
  • Hotels, Motels and B&Bs

Event Centre

NAOC2014 will have its Event Centre at the Nick Smith Centre in Arnprior.  Here is a list of some of the things that will be happening at and near the Event Centre:

  • Race Kit Pick-Up and Information Desk on Thursday and Friday
  • Opening Ceremony on Friday evening
  • Shuttle Buses Pick-Up to and drop-off from Race Arenas
  • Breakfasts, Dinners and Banquet
  • Swimming
  • Showers
  • After-Hours Activities
  • Elite (20-E and 21E) Quarantine for Sprint Event
  • RV's, Tent Trailers
  • Tenting immediately next door
  • Hard Floor Accommodation within 300m

Arrival and Transportation

There will be shuttle bus transportation throughout the weekend between the Event Centre and the race arenas.  We are also offering a shuttle from the airport to Arnprior (this one there will be a charge for).  You can register for the airport shuttle when you register for the races.  If you have already registered and are interested in the airport shuttle, please contact our Transportation Coordinator, Tracy Bradley, at This email address is being protected from spambots. Accommodations

Hard Floor Accommodation

Hard Floor accommodation - dorm style, gym floor - bring your mattress and sleeping bag - will be available at the Arnprior Curling Club. This is a change from our original information which had us using a local school.  The Curling Club is even closer to the Event Centre, which is good for you, and is NOT on the Sprint map, which is good for us!  The fee will be $5.00 per person per night, to a maximum of $20 per family. The Event Centre is 300 metres from the Curling Club, across the tenting field.

Tent and RV Camping

Camping for tents, tent trailers and RVs is available in the adjacent to the Event Centre.  The fee will be $5.00 per person per night, to a maximum of $20 per family.  The Event Centre will be open for showers and washrooms.

Meal Plan

We have some great food planned for breakfasts and dinners starting with Friday evening dinner and going through to Monday morning breakfast.  We have worked hard to keep the meal prices reasonable and the food healthy, delicious and plentiful.  

The following menus have been planned by our food coordinator, Registered Dietitian Marketa Graham and local Arnprior caterer Riley's Catering Co. Each meal offers a wide selection of great food for everyone with a variety of vegetarion choices as part of the regular buffet table.
